We were absolutely delighted to finally open our doors to pupils last week and start transition visits. Our pupils have shown fantastic confidence coming into their new school, overcoming anxieties and proving how much they want to be part of The Wymering School. We could not be happier that they are with us and our journey has begun.
We have started our transition visits with a focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Pupils have been designing and building bridges from all kinds of materials and testing what weight they can take. Designing and measuring how far paper planes can fly – this was a very competitive aspect of last week and children have really refined their designs to see if their plane can gain an extra few inches! One of the activies for this week is to design parachutes for eggs which apparently must be dropped from my office window…..
Pupils have had their first cookery session and the sausage rolls were a huge hit, they could give Greggs a run for their money!
We’ve discovered that we really do have a community of games lovers, staff and pupils alike! Top favorites so far have been Dobble (particularly the Marvel version), Uno and Chess. Although we do need to agree on one set of rules for Uno!
We only get one chance to transition our children into school and each visit really counts. Thank you to all our families for your support over these initial weeks, the children have really brought the school to life.
